Can You Move Out to Live With Your Boyfriend When You Turn 17
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Texas
I am 16 going on 17 in September, I currently live with my grandparents and my dad moved out to live with his girlfriend.
He wants me to move in with them and move schools and go to a completely new district.
I've been through a lot growing up and it's hard for me to deal with things like that, I am finally stable and comfortable where I am at and I don't want it to change. My boyfriend is 17 going on 18 in September and his mom would be okay with me moving in.
Can I move out when I turn 17, with his mom not having any consequences or me being forced to move back home?

Nope. Until you are 18, you live where Dad says you live.

Because someone else will if I don't, I will mention that you are in one of the states where law enforcement is reluctant to return home a 17 year old who is in a safe place. But reluctant does not mean they won't, at least not in Texas, and it also means that they won't help you if Dad comes personally to put you in the car and take you back. And it most certainly does not mean that your boyfriend's mother cannot get into any legal trouble.

The day on which you can move out and no one can force you to go anywhere you don't want to go and no one can get into any trouble for helping you is your 18th birthday. Not your 17th - your 18th. Until then, what Dad says goes.

I agree with cbg. However, if you explains things to your father in the right way, there is some small chance that he might allow you to continue to live with your grandparents.
