    Judgements and Wage Garnishments
When filing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, does this stop wage garnishments? Will it stop a judgement from becoming a wage garnishment?

that depends on the type of judgment being garnished.....if it is for child support or taxes, then, No. If it is for a civil judgment for damages or a loan or credit debt, then, yes, a petition for protection under Chapter 7 should stop the garnishment......at least that's my experience from working with bankruptcy lawyers for over 15 years....but my most recent experience is not in consumer bankruptcy, so I'm not "current" on the new law changes.

It's a creditor for a repossesion in 1997. Is there anyone that is familiar with the recent changes that can confirm this could be the case?
