Hello, I live in west virginia and i am 19, the girl this is about is from maryland and 13. I am wondering if we can legally date each other. We really honestly care and like each other and its not sexual at all. I just want to know before I ask her out. I would never do anything to take advantage of her and I am a very sexually exclusive person. Meaning i am very very exclusive who I have sex with. Please help me out as soon as possible. Please just give legal help/advise please do not ridicule. I do understand it is not right according to society but you cant control feelings as that is nature and instinct rather then forcing it. In short, sex of any kind, fondling, touching, even going to "second base" would be a crime. Additionally, assisting or encouraging her to disobey her parents would be a crime. If her parents are not supportive of this (and I would hope they would be absolutely opposed to this), then you could face charges if you encourage her to disobey her parents or act against their wishes.
This is a BAAAD idea on so many levels, and you leave yourself wide open to all manner of criminal allegations that could dog you for the rest of your life! Grow up and date someone your own age - NOT children! -

FireMoon, do you understand what it says about you if, at 19, you are in any way attracted to a 13 year old? There are two possible answers and neither of them is good. The less offensive of the two is that you are too immature to find companionship in anyone but a child. We won't discuss the other possibility here.
Step away from the child. Do not ask her out, do not speak to her, do not even go near her. Then first thing tomorrow, pick up a phone and make yourself an appointment to get some counseling. -
