How to Schedule Summer Extended Visitation
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Ohio

I am hoping someone here can help me with this. Our court order reads “Father is entitled to four weeks (28 days) of extended parenting time annually. Father must notify the residential parent in writing at least thirty days in advance of exercising extended time. If Father intends to take the child on an out of town vacation during that period, he must give the residential parent a detailed itinerary of where they will be.” I am trying to work with my daughter’s mother to set up our extended visits this summer. This is the first year that the court order has been in place so neither of us have had to deal with this previously. I have sent her several texts asking her to let me know if she has any vacations planned this summer so that I do not schedule something conflicting, but she is refusing to respond (as per usual). I do not usually see her at the pick up or the drop off. Often, my wife picks up my daughter, and her boyfriend picks her up at the end of visitation, so face time is limited between us. How do I go about this? If I put it in writing, do I send it to her via certified mail? Does anyone have any suggestions on wording? Should I copy the lawyers and the court or is that not necessary? Also, I am guessing that four weeks means my weekend, plus five additional days. Not my weekend, plus seven additional days, correct?
    Thanks for your help!

You are mother or father? If father, did you notify your ex in writing 28 days ago? NOT email but writing sent by return receipt requested? At this point, you cannot request anything before July 6 of this year. And if that is mom's time, you don't get it. YOU need to put it in writing. Texts are NOT writing. You tell her the dates (four weeks) at least 30 days from now. Send it by mail. Send it to her attorney. Your week means your weekend plus five additional days. YOu can take four weeks beginning after July 6 of this year.

I am the father. I did not want to use my visitation until July, and I was trying to keep things on an even keel for an event that I needed her to trade weekends on. Thank you for your help. This is what I thought. I sent her the dates via email, as she requested. I also sent via mail to be safe. We agreed to the dates before we put them in writing, which she initially agreed to...however she then stated that Friday at 6pm to the following Friday at 5:30pm is eight days. For example, one of the weeks is Friday, July 8th at 5:30pm to Friday, July 15th at 5:30pm My regular visitation is Friday, July 8th from 5:30 to Sunday, July 10th at 6:00pm. I agree that there are eight days involved, but hour wise, it is seven days. I don't think it's possible to only have seven involved days, unless I picked her up at midnight. Am I right on this?
    Thanks,

Mom is full of it. 7 days are 7 24 hour periods. Friday to Friday is exactly 7 days.

Depending on the county you may have to take the ENTIRE 28 days consecutively. Four weeks consecutive. So you start on July 8 and go for four weeks.
