Was I Legally Emancipated from My Parents
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Texas. When I moved to Texas, I was put in an independent living facility. I was 16 or 17 at the time, and was not yet a legal resident of Texas. My mother and stepfather then took steps to have me legally emancipated from them.. My mother continued to pay for my insurance for a couple of years after that. Was this a legal procedure on their part? Seems like some shortcuts were made in order for this emancipation to go through. I had no idea what this procedure meant for me and the impact was never explained. Any input would be appreciated.
Re: Was I Legally Emancipated from My Parents
We have no way of finding out what your parents did. However, if you were sixteen or seventeen a couple of years ago, you are now over the age of eighteen and thus are emancipated by virtue of your having reached the age of majority.
