A friend of mine in science has a domestic partner also in science who is alleged to have tested her underwear in a lab for stains indicating she has been having intercourse, thus 'cheating' on him.

    Your sentence structure is terrible.

I can't tell if your friend tested the underwear or if the partner tested her own underwear.

The following paragraph contains a similar example of a poorly written sentence.

"A free-spirited mother and her three young-adult children visit an English seaside resort. There they meet a young dentist, who falls in love with the older daughter, his grumpy landlord, the mother's nervous solicitor, the friendly waiter, and a stuffy barrister."

Did the dentist fall in love with all those people or did the family meet all those people?

Like yours, could go either way.

LOL, I apologize for the obfuscated syntax.

Let me rephrase the statement: "I have a female friend. My female friend is a scientist. My scientist female friend has a domestic partner. The domestic partner is a male and he is also a scientist. The male scientist domestic partner is alleged to have tested underwear in his lab. The underwear belonged to my female scientist friend. Did the male scientist commit a crime by testing my female friend's underwear without her knowledge and consent?"

    Thank you and good day.

    Here's my take on this.

They are domestic partners. They live together. They sleep together. They get naked together. They have access to each other's stuff.

I don't see any crime in taking the underwear for testing.

I don't see any crime in putting a hand print on the woman's butt.

I don't know what kind of nutcase the woman is that she tells you all this stuff but if she is not happy with the situation SHE is the one to do something about it and YOU need to back off, invoke TMI and let her handle it.
