Taking Somebody's Underwear to be Tested for Stains
My question involves criminal law for the state of: MI

A friend of mine in science has a domestic partner also in science who is alleged to have tested her underwear in a lab for stains indicating she has been having intercourse, thus 'cheating' on him. Aside from being really weird, does this constitute some sort of crime? To me it sounded like harassment, but I didn't know if it could be considered something more serious.

I would call it a massive invasion of privacy, as well as seriously creepy.

But not illegal in and of itself.

If the undies were removed from the partner's possession to be tested without their knowledge and consent, an ambitious prosecutor might try and charge theft of some kind. I doubt it would happen though.

If it was just a swab in place and then the swab tested at the lab, creepy and an invastion of privacy but not illegal.

This is just creepy and gross and icky. Yeah, I said "icky". I'm a grown-up, and I can say "icky" if I want to say "icky" so there.

    Okay, thank you.

There's a bit more to the situation, however. She also says that he placed a handprint on her buttox while sleeping, using Koolaid mixture to try to stain the skin. Apparently he thinks he's pretty sly and he's going to outwit my friend in catching her cheating on him, or somehow turn the other guy away from her and ruin their relationship. The handprint stain apparently washed right off, but could this be considered sexual assault or battery? Unwanted physical contact in a sexual region, with ALL the evidence left behind?

This dude is obviously off his rocker, and she needs to leave him... along with him getting some serious counseling help... Maybe she'll need it too. But I'd hate to see this situation devolve into something any more perverse and depraved.

This is where you need to back off, and back off fast. You are getting far too involved in someone else's personal business. If she has a problem, she's capable of signing up herself. Right? Right.

Or perhaps she's telling tales to see how much sympathy she can get from you.

Thanks, and yes she is certainly capable of taking legal action herself if she desired. I'm a male, and I'm clueless when it comes to trying to support a female friend who is alleging semi-sexual offenses (if that is what they are). Not sure what she is seeking from me, but I DO understand that sexual offenses are absolutely intolerable and devastating for the victim. I don't want this behavior to scar her for the rest of her life, nor do I wish for this perverse power dynamic to shift into something further like rape or sexual assault.

Maybe she is telling fibs and I should direct her to the nearest SafeHouse facility where she can get the attention she seeks. Hate to look at it like that though.

I'd be wondering why she'd be telling me such ..extremely intimate, details. That's not the kind of stuff that pops up in regular conversation.

Honestly? It seems like you're a good guy and she wants to be "rescued". But I'm not here to diagnose or guess at someone else's motives really (though I do realize that's precisely what I've done here).

To say nothing of the issue at hand other than the whole thing is creepy, weird and why are you involved in this car wreck?

The other this I have to say is...SCIENCE!!! Clearly these people are blinded by it:nevreness:
