Then it is probably as I said - the store files to the local police, they decide whether to file with the DA, and the DA decides whether to pursue it criminally. Lucky for you most prosecutors' offices do not have the time or resources to pursue misdemeanor property crimes, so if you pay the civil demand that may be the last you hear of it. Maybe.

At this point all you can do is wait and see. And, don't steal again.
