Issued a U-Turn Ticket for an Illegal Left Turn
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California.
I received a ticket for an illegal U-Turn, but it seems that the officers did not actually see what really happened because in fact I took a left turn over a barrier, two sets of double yellow lines, into a gas station. I can bring video proof that I didn't make the u-turn, but is the judge going to dismiss the charges on the grounds that the officers gave me the wrong ticket or is he going to charge me for the illegal left turn instead? Thank you.

What code section were you cited for violating?

If you reversed direction even a little bit, it's a U-turn rather than a left.

I didn't reverse direction at all. It was a normal left turn. It's just that I didn't notice I was crossing an island because the yellow interior line on my side was blackened by a long break mark over it. Thanks.

That is for failure to obey a traffic sign or signal. Was there a no u-turn sign that the officer said you violated?

If you violated a sign that was present in any way - be it U-turn, no left turn, etc. - then you can be guilty of the violation.
