The differance between misdemeanor and felony 487(a) California
What is the differance between the level of severity between these two level of charges. I mean would one have stiffer penelties than the other?

A misdemeanor is a crime that is punishable by one year or less in jail and or 1000 dollars or less in fines, also probation and community service.

A felony is a crime that is punishable by more than one year in jail and more than 1000 dollars in fines.

Felony will often land you in Prison not county jail

Does a misdemeanor stop a person from getting a license to fish or hunt? I just thought about firearms too, would a person be able to buy and carry a firearm in California with a misdemeanor on their record?

Yes you can still shoot yourself in the foot with a misdemeanor.
