We live in Philadelphia. My landlord dropped a letter under our door month ago (by the way, the letter was back dated. It was less than 90 days notice of our lease expires) which the letter stated our lease is non-renewal and without any reason.... We called, email and sent letter to landlord to request the reason of non-renewal the lease. Heard nothing from the landlord.
2 weeks ago ( around June 28), we had the job opportunity to relocate to different state. We gave our landlord of 30 days notice by email, letter and stating that we are moving out on July 31 instead of the original lease Aug 31.... We heard nothing from the landlord. We stopped by the lease office this morning and they said that we cannot break the lease and we need to pay Aug rent. When we asked them the reason of the non-renewal letter from month ago.... they said they cannot discuss it...
What is our rights in here as a tenant? Can we break the lease due to the job relocation? Do we need to be liable for any penalty and will we loss our security deposit? Please help and greatly appreciate for any advice
