Re: How to Stop Religious Door Knockers
I live in a small town with 16 churches and we get very few such unwanted visitors on our doorstep. I don't see it as a real problem.

maybe that's because you get very few such visitors.

I just don't think anyone gets soooo many such visitors that it is a real problem. I have never lived anywhere where this has been but the occasional blip once every several months. About once every few months I come home or wake up to find The Watchtower under my doormat, but is it REALLY that big of a problem? I doubt it.
I get more far more kids coming to the door selling cookie dough and girl scout cookies than trying to talk to me about religion. And those that do will find me polite and not an Adam Henry. Guess that's me.

I don't mind answering the door. Today, I gave the local firefighters their annual $40 beg money. Some folks, though, need a short sharp shock. :encouragement:

Ours do fund raisers rather than go door-to-door. In many cities, going door to door can be dangerous! (Fires they'll run into, but contacting nefarious folks, naaaah! That's been MY job!)
Re: How to Stop Religious Door Knockers
It's me too, Carl. I've lived in this house since 2004 and I don't think I've had two people knock on my door to talk about religion in all that time. I've probably had more Verizon salesmen than I've had JW.
Re: How to Stop Religious Door Knockers
Really cbg? We've been in our house since 1990. We have a no soliciting sign. The religious folk aren't soliciting, so they knock. We get them about once every other month. I just don't open our door to unkowns in general. I have one dog that sounds like she'll take your head off, but in actuality will just take off out the door to the neighbor's house to eat the cat food left out for the ferals.
But, if my hubby wants to have some fun...see my post above. :D

I live in a very rural area, so other than the firefighter begs, I think I've had 3 religious folks knock on my door in 10 years.
Re: How to Stop Religious Door Knockers
Where I used to live they sprung up like annual flowers. Where I live now I almost had one but once they saw the no-trespassing sign they backed started backing out of my drive before ever reaching my house.
and be what's with the firefighters seeking donations? Who is the beneficiary of those activities?

Yep, really. And there was a JW hall in town for the first ten or so years I lived here.
I work full time so maybe they come when I'm at work, but DH works from home and he's never mentioned it. Nor have I ever found a Watchtower under the door.
They are, however, a constant presence in the subway station where I get off the train. :D
