Is Abuse a Reason for Emancipation
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Indiana

I was wondering if emotional abuse and past physical abuse is cause for emancipation?

If you're being abused, notify a school counselor or protective services.

No. Emancipation is not a about escaping a home environment that you do not like or that may even be abusive. If you are truly being abused then you can contact the child protective services office and if they determine that you are indeed being abused they can remove you from the home and place you somewhere else.

Emancipation is about freeing a minor from certain disabilities of minority (like contracts, etc) because the minor is living on his/her own like an adult. If you are not living on your own and supporting yourself (or at least can prove you can support yourself living on your own) then you’re not going to get emancipated.
