What to Do if a Landlord Will Not Return a Security Deposit
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Oklahoma

I moved out of an apartment in September. I gave them proper notice at the end of my lease, turned in my keys, and left my forwarding address. This was September, and now it is late January. They did not send me a statement in regard to my deposit, nor did they refund anything. I had no communication with them.

About a month ago, I called the leasing office at this apartment complex. (This is a large complex with 250+ units). They told me they are under new management, and they gave me the number to the management company who previously managed the units. They also told me that this previous management company "has all the files and tenant's deposits. When I call this previous management company, they keep telling me they "will get back" to me soon after they check their records. This management company is located in another state, and I do not know if they have branches in my state or not, but they have not been helpful in getting info to me.

Could someone give me a heads-up about the best course of action here?

Sue the owner of the apartments. It's THEY who are responsible, not the managers.
