How am I not helping the situation? I haven't done anything to harm it.
Please also note that I have a restraining order against ex and the only form of communication that we can have is through email. There is a history of DV and I try my best to keep my son out of our issues. Step mother is just trying to create more and because she refuses to respect me and meet me, there's not much I can do that I haven't done other than something legal.
The school is NOT allowed to prohibit dad from being on the paperwork unless there is a restraining order specifically prohibiting him from being on the paperwork or at the school. YOU are out of line for allowing the school to get away with that nonsense.

Consultations should be like first dates -- getting to know you, how you plan to problem solve, do you know opposing counsel and how do you work with the judge. It provides a time to discuss how the office works, and how much involvement you as the client will or won't have. A consultation shows how easy or difficult it might be to work with this attorney.
Do you work for free? I am not dating a client so no, they shouldn't be like first dates. You are ignorant and naïve. Do you work for free at your job? did you work for free the first week at your job so your boss could get to know you? If not, shut up.
