    Does a Child's Enrollment in Job Corp End Child Support
    My question involves child support in the State of: Indiana.

    If your child quits school then goes to job corp. Is that the same as being in school or can said child be emancipated

    Job corp is NOT school.

    So then said child could be emancipated if he leaves for job corp. Since they provide the shelter and food and some pay. Will courts see that as living on his own

    The Job Corps may well be a hybrid that can award a HS diploma, a GED , or college credits.

    I simply do not know....but my guess would be for purposes of CS, the
    Young person or CP is likely to get the benefit of any ambiguity....if he or she is enrolled in good standing in Job Corps

    How old is he? If he is under 18 it would be very iffy.

    For purposes of child support, Indiana law (IC 31-16-6-6) considers a child emancipated if the child:

    1. is age 19;
    2. has joined the United States armed services;
    3. is married;
    4. is not under the care or control of either parent or someone else approved by the court; or
    5. is at least 18 years old, has not gone to school for the last 4 months, is not enrolled in school, and is or is capable of supporting himself or herself through employment.

    I see nothing suggesting this could be interpreted as emancipation. They are not supporting themselves. They are being supported by the program. He is still under the control of his parents (requires parental consent of a minor)
