Minor with a gun

I'm doing a school assignment and the question that i have to answer is how does law enforcment handle a minor with a gun? If a minor is charged with useing a gun are they charged as a minor?

It will depend upon the jurisdiction, the age of the minor, and the facts of the incident.

In addition to Aaron's reply, it sounds like you are asking two seperate questions.

How law enforcement might respond to an incident involving a minor with a gun is a seperate issue from how he might be handled by the DA and the court.

Are you asking only the ONE question: "If a minor is charged with useing a gun are they charged as a minor?"

Or are their two parts?

This is a VERY broad question and depends a great deal on the circumstances. For instance, how they would respond to a kid with a gun in a backpack sitting in class might be different than if he were wandering through the hallways brandishing one.

The bottom line is that a KID with a gun is treated the same as an adult with a gun ... a kid can kill with a gun the same way an adult can, and they must both be treated in much the same way.
