Walmart Shoplifting Letter Did Not Arrive Yet

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

I was recently caught shoplifting two weeks ago(22 dollars). No police were called. I was told that I would receive some kind of letter in the mail. I never did. I was told that if my letter never came, that I should call 1800 Walmart and see what my status is.

Should I call Walmart? They didn't even give me a specific number to call.
I really just want to put this decision behind me without any law enforcement knowing.

the only number I COULD FIND ONLINE(THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME A NUMBER) IS : 1-800-236-7428

Give it another couple of weeks. They are not that fast at sending out demand letters. If you do not get one do NOT call them.

Why should I not call them? when they took down my information, I was so nervous didn't give them my complete address. I gave them everything but my apartment number. I live at my schools on campus apartments. I called two days later and gave them the complete address. they said that they already sent out the information, but that they will send my apartment number to them now. IDK if this messed everything up. I want to put all this behind me and get that letter. I pray that's its only a fine and nothing else.

they did not call the police when I was caught, but they said that once they send in the information to Walmart, then its up to them what they do. THEY SAID THAT THEY MAY DO NOTHING OR IDK...THEM NOT KNOWING MAKES ME SO SCARED.

I REALLY WANT TO CALL AND SEE MY STATUS.

it seems you're gonna what you WANT TO DO anyway.

1. they did NOT call the police,so there is no official police report.
2. you volunteered too much information regarding your actions but that's already been DONE.
why didn't you simply say ooh mygawd, i'm soo stressed out and not feeling well, i forgot to scan it ! HERE TAKE IT and then keep going ?
3. exactly as another one says, do NOT call them.
IF THEY WANT ANYTHING FROM YOU, they will send the letter of demand.
walleee world cannot do a thing as there is no police report, they did not ban you from their store and YOU didn't sign anything, right ?

if a letter arrives, read it carefully,real carefully and even then DO NOT SIGN A THING.
i would simply resolve to not "borrow" things and PAY MY BILLS AND FINES....AND FORGET ABOUT THIS .
I WOULDN't SEND A DIME the same as this is also admitting GUILT--they have NO POLICE REPORT--Calm down.

That is not how Walmart does it. They either call the police up front or they never get the police involved at all. The letter is a civil demand letter and if the OP does not comply, the OP risks being sued, not arrested.

While that in some wild stretch COULD happen. It's not going to. Walmart has no history of retroactively having LP make criminal complaints. They don't even have the history of filing civil suits in follow up civil demands.

What was wrong is that paying the civil demand is NOT in any way construable as guilt.
