Craigslist Mortgage Fraud
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan, City of Detroit.
Please watch the brief news report below.

In short, I am in contact with the news station and coordinating to help this couple. I am familiar with the City, the properties, federal and state programs, formerly licensed realtor in the state of Michigan, also worked at a mortgage company and over the years I've been fortunate enough to be able to help others who can't afford help and many times lack the life experience to know how to help themselves.
I do this with the help of others like this forum, and I would appreciate suggestions on tracking down the money, the mortage company, if the money can be traced (I am speaking with them after the holiday so I don't know the full payment arrangments) through clearing, etc.
Thank you in advance.
Re: Craigslist Mortgage Fraud
When you are dealing with people from another state, who claim to work for a company with which they may not even have an affiliation, when the out-of-state company is out of business, and when you don't even know if the documents you have were executed by anybody with an ownership interest in the home or the authority to convey an interest, you can anticipate a great (perhaps I should say extreme) deal of difficulty trying to recover any money.

Really?
And yet I read the following paragraph in that article:
"_______ has made countless calls to ___________ Bank and HUD and it seems no one knows who actually owns the house."
Did you or they think to look up the property with the county assessor for ownership information and then look up recorded documents tracing the ownership of the property? Was a title/escrow company used? No?
Duh, these people would have to have been totally devoid of any common sense or even a spark of intelligence if they didn't at least do that before buying.

Title search/title insurance.
