How Long Does it Take After Shoplifting to Get a Court Summons
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Nevada
Over 7 months ago, I was accused of petty theft in Nevada. The goods were valued at less than $100 and as I was deemed cooperative, the loss prevention officer decided not to call the police. I was released and told I'd be getting a summons in the mail. I received my civil demand less than a week later and paid it quickly. I haven't received any further information about the case. Is it typical to have to wait this long to receive a summons? None of the courts in my town have any information about me, and there is a police case under my name at the local police station that I was told is not being investigated. Should I be taking any action right now or could I be in the clear?
Re: It's Been 7 Months Since My Shoplifting Accusation and No Summons
If he didn't call the police, the civil demand most likely was the summons that he was talking about.
