Outstanding Warrant for Theft Over $500
My question involves criminal law for the state of: TN/LA
TN resident working in LA post-Katrina in 2008. No criminal behavior/charges since reckless youth in 1991. Came home for materials 7/2008 and had stroke, never returned to LA.
Slow recovery, but stopped by THP 5/2012 and arrested as FOJ for theft >$500 in LA filed 8/2008. Released same day due extensive medical liability.
NO idea from who/where this could be from. Calls to local parish attorneys & magistrate yielded ZERO other than questions "where are you NOW?" Or "if you send me a $5K retainer I can TRY to find out."
ID expired 2013 and now am having problems seeing new doctors or refile for social security because "no valid ID" - at a total loss, medical expenses have broken my family, constant fear stress and anxiety, lost hope to ever get passed this.
DL probably revoked but too afraid to even ask or start process just to get a card with a date to receive medical treatment. WTH do we do?

You can return to Louisiana to face the charge. You can see if you can get a copy of the police report from the incident to try to determine the basis of the charge. You can work with a lawyer in Louisiana, who can help you research the charge and perhaps work out a plea bargain or other resolution of the charge based upon the facts.
