Starting a Business with J-1 Visa
    Hello,

I wanted to ask a question I have hard time with finding a good answer, I hope I'm in the right forum.
So I am currently an MBA student at a very high caliber university in the US.
I have already an STEM masters degree from a research institute in Israel and I'm really interested in starting a startup.
I have an idea, but as far as I understand, I can't employ myself with a J-1 visa so I can't really start a company in the US. On the other hand, I have seen many J-1 holders that started a startup here so I was wondering, is there any way I could stay here after my studies and start a company? Is there any way that an immigration lawyer could help me with that? I am here with a J-1 visa and an Israeli passport, I don't have to go back for two years after my studies, but I can't also try to get an E-2 visa because Israel and the US don't have that agreement yet.

    I would appreciate your help.

You can't work on a J-1 (despite what other people have illegally or appear to have illegally done in the past).
Even if you could get an E-2 visa, that's not appropriate for what you are trying to do.

Start here http://www.uscis.gov/eir/visa-guide/...eur-visa-guide and then consult an immigration attorney.

As you plan for your future, you need to be realistic. The overwhelming majority of new businesses fail.
