How to Legally Transport a Knife
My question involves criminal law for the state of: San Francisco CA

Hi! I am new here. I would like to ask some questions in order for me not to violate any law. I have purchased an esee 6 knife which will be use for my outdoor adventures. aside from the tsa rules on bringing sharp objects onboard the plane. I wonder how do i transport the knife to the airport. i dont quite understand the C.A law on bringing this kind of knife. because usually it is already inside my checked in luggage. but it state that fixed blade should be carried.

I hope someone can help me. thanks!

If you are transporting it on a plane, put it in your CHECKED luggage. If you are carrying it on your person when you are NOT AT THE AIRPORT, it needs to be in an exposed sheath (i.e. NOT hidden by a jacket, shirt, or other article). Note that there are a very few cities in CA that have ordinances prohibiting the carrying of exposed knives, but there is no centralized list I know of these cities, and none come to mind off hand.

Agreed. I had to look up the particular knife, but it appears to be a straight non-folding outdoors type knife, so CDW hits it on the head.

CDWJava (the first reply to your post) is the correct answer. I was just reinforcing that what he said applies specifically to the knife you mentioned in your post (there are essentially three classes of knives in California: those illegal to carry period, those you can carry concealed, those you can not carry concealed. Yours is the latter).
