Removing the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage from Abroad

Hi,

I have green card through my husband who is US citizen. My two year green card is going to expire in 16 days. I temporally live i. my home country to take care of a family member. If my husband send me signed form, can I file from abroad? Will I have problem to get back to US after my green card expires? Do I need to be in the US just for the fingerprints and interview? Will they let me know ahead when it is so I can come right before?
