Delays in Receiving a Refund on a Cellular Phone
My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Virginia
Okay, I do apologize if this is too long. My daughter purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 (I think that's right) from a Kiosk in the mall. She had issues with it from the beginning. She took it back to get her old iPhone 5 back, but was told by the Kiosk manager that she couldn't do that, she was talked into purchasing the iPhone 6 Plus. She had to borrow the money from me due to her refund not being available yet. On her way home she started having second thoughts, she decided to take it back that night. Both phones were returned within the 14 day grace period. My daughter received her refund with in 3 days to her debit card. Today is August 13th, I am still waiting on the refund from the iPhone 6 Plus that we returned on April 7th, 2015. I have been to the Kiosk several times, I have called Sprint more times then I can count, and my bank is also working on getting the refund. I have been transferred from one department to another, I have been told that the refund was credited to my account already (which it has not been), I have also been told that it was refunded to my daughters account. The refund they are referring to is the first refund that she received 3 days after the return of the Samsung Galaxy. For some reason they can not understand that there were two phones purchased, two phones returned, but only one refund given. Another problem, when we returned the iPhone 6 Plus, the girl that was helping us at the Kiosk was new and was there by herself. She had to call several different people and departments for help. I was just looking at the receipt and there is nothing on there for the amount that was suppose to be refunded, my card number is not on there, but my daughters is. This is just one big mess and I don't know where else to turn. This is $184.28 that I have out there floating around, and to top it all off, the manager of the kiosk no longer works there! Can some one please help me?!?!? After I get my refund, I am cutting ties with Sprint and taking my business else where.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Delays in Receiving a Refund on a Cellular Phone
Sprint is notoriously awful.
A slow but fairly effective way is to go to FCC.GOV and click on the file a complaint button. Eventually it will be routed to someone (typically a lawyer in the president's office at Sprint) who has the authority to resolve the situation to make the complaint go away.
Note that those kiosks and even many storefronts aren't SPRINT, they just are agents of Sprint.
