Minors Arrested for Being at a Party Where Somebody Had a Bong
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Tennessee Me and several friends were having a party at my friend's house. And somehow the cops managed to come the morning after. There was a bong sitting on the front porch that was the owners of the house. So they come and raid the place. Find nothing but they bong. They ask whose it is. No one would fess up. So the owner of the house tried to take blame. But the police would not allow it. So they loaded us up. Without my parents permission. Or letting me call my mom. To the locals sheriffs office. At this point they have asked me no questions. Other than if the bong was mine. Which i said no. They charged me and 13 other minors with one count of drug paraphernalia. And i can't see how this is fair. Or why i should be in trouble.

Did you have a question, or did you just want to let us know that you don't think it's fair?

Oh my bad. I was just wondering. Like what the deal is. I have a court date and all. Should I fight it? Let it be? Get a lawyer? Whats the worst punishment? Can they really charge us all?
Re: Minors Arrested for Being at a Party Where Somebody Had a Bong
How old are you? What would a court likely think when examining your home, school, community and prior police records? Would you pass a drug test, this very minute?
Re: Minors Arrested for Being at a Party Where Somebody Had a Bong
yes i can pass a drug test. ive had one prior charge. I'm 16. No trouble at school or the community. Home life is great. My parents are on my side.

Would it make a difference. If the boy who owned the bong fessed up for it? In court? And everyone else pleaded not guilty? Life's not fair at all. I learned that from my last court charge. But the difference between now and then. Is that I recongized what I did wrong the first time. But this time i cannot. I just can't see why they would charge us all.

Your prior criminal record could make a court look harder at you, as you apparently didn't learn your lesson the first time around.
We don't know what actually happened or what the police observed. It may be that you'll get to court and find that the prosecutor is dismissing most of the charges. It may be that the prosecutor offers everybody a deal. It may be that the prosecutor decides to make an example of a bunch of teenagers who thought it would be fun to throw a party where drugs were apparently being used. You'll have to wait and see.
