Waiting for the Outcome of a Green Card Interview
Hello! My husband and I had a green card interview on April 28, 2015 and haven't gotten any response yet. The interview went well and lasted no more than 10 minutes. Our attorney is saying we can't do anything to speed up the process and have to wait up to 12 months. Is this true??

We received the decision right at the end of the interview - my passport was stamped, and after that it was just a matter of waiting for the actual card to arrive. However, this was over 10 years ago.

Your file can be held for "further review", but your attorney should know this. It's true that it can take some time if it is being reviewed, and we're only talking what... 10 weeks? Believe it or not, that's still considered "reasonable". What I'm reading online is that it can - with the current state of things - take several months.

I understand that you're worried, but the delay doesn't mean anything bad is happening.

Keep in touch with your attorney, and see if you can check the status online.
