Can You Sue Your Parent for Being Late on Child Support
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Texas. Can I sue my father for neglection he pays child support but hasn't been paying on time and my mother is stressed out, I'm 17 and my father is never around me I've became depressed and stressed out because he doesn't help my mother out I've gotten a job to help her pay late fees on the rent and I've been completely stressed out I never had a father figure in my life because he's never around and he only comes once every five months and that's if I'm lucky to see him he only comes and give me some money then leaves and recently we spoke and he told me he doesn't care about me or my mother he even told me that he doesn't support that I want to become a police officer when I graduate. He has another family and he's always with them but he hides me from them and when I call him and ask I he can come he tells me no and that to not call him ever again and that he will call me when he wants. I haven't been the same because of the depression and stress trying to help out my mother so my question is, is there anyway I can take legal action on this he says he never has money to give us and he only give us enough to pay a lttile of the late fees but he has a plumbing company, the only thing I want is to help out my mother and I can do that with all the stress he's causing me and the depression that I don't have a father figure to teach me things I can't learn for my mother.

Re: Can I Sue My Father for Neglection
The only one here with legal standing to do anything is your mother. If there is court-ordered child support which is not being paid, or is being paid late, she has legal recourse if she chooses to take it. It is HER choice, however, not yours.
Your father is not obligated by law to pay attention to you. You do not have any grounds for suit, even if you were old enough, which you are not.
