What to Do When a Child Refuses to Visit the Other Parent
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: we live in SC, my child age 15 no longer wishes to visit her father. She has several complaints, some of which are concerning. I've had 2 psychologists tell me it is not in her best interest or well being for her to go. She wants to refuse but I am afraid without the courts consent I face jail time so I force her to go. I have proof that he is an abuser and my child's therapist has said it is clear he is an abusive person and fears her leaving. The paperwork is in Indiana and the attorney there says I have to force her until age 18 unless there is physical or sexual abuse, which there is not. Is there anything I can do? I'm getting ready to have the paperwork filed in SC, but I hate this for my child and not sure what to do. Please help!

Until the order is changed by the court, she has to go.

If the paperwork is in Indiana, Indiana still has jurisdiction until it is transferred. Furthermore, if the counselor thought the child was being abused, the counselor is a mandated reporter and would have had to make calls to CPS and/or the police. What type of complaints does your daughter have?
