What is the Penalty for a Minor Caught Shoplifiting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky. I was with my mother and my friend and I were caught shoplifting in Walmart. We were called back to a small office and they totaled the amount to under $20 for both of us put together. They took out ID's and both of our parents drivers license and a officer ended up coming. I know what I did wrong and foolish. I've never been in trouble with the law before, I have good grades, and I've never got in trouble with school.
    I was wondering the following:
    1. What would my punishment be since I am a minor, and this is my first offense?
    2. When I got a letter from a lawyer hired by Walmart telling me I had to pay a $250 civil demand, do I have to? And who do I address it to?
    3. Will this go on my record or is it already on?
    4. Should I be worried if I haven't been contacted for my court date and its been 1 week and almost 3 days?

A fine, probation and community service.
    2. When I got a letter from a lawyer hired by Walmart telling me I had to pay a $250 civil demand, do I have to? And who do I address it to?
You must pay the fee and you address it to whom sent it to you.
    3. Will this go on my record or is it already on?
It will be on your criminal record if you're found guilty in a court of the charge that they charge you with.
    4. Should I be worried if I haven't been contacted for my court date and its been 1 week and almost 3 days?
No, they can send a court date to you next year if they wanted to.

This will show on your arrest record, but not your criminal record until found guilty.
