Charged with Solicition of Prostitute
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia - Fairfax county
- My friend was charged soliciting in a sting ops by police in a hotel room. He was given an yellow form to appear in court in 2 months
- He has a family and does not want them to know. Will he be receiving any communication from the court to the mail box ?
- If he pleads guilty, is there a possibility that he only gets fine but no jail or probation?

You can anticipate receiving court notices by mail.

You should consult a lawyer about possible dispositions, as you may be able to avoid a conviction. If your record is clean the odds of a jail sentence are very low.
Re: Charged with Solicition of Prostitute
On a practical note, your "friend" is placing his family at physical risk by consorting with prostitutes. His wife (assuming he has one as part of his family) should be tested for STDs.
Personally, I hope the extracurricular activities of your "friend" are discovered by his family for their sakes - particularly his wife's.
Re: Charged with Solicition of Prostitute
I don't think the Fairfax County GDC will send him anything ahead of his court date unless it has to change for some reason. HOWEVER, what he can cont on is possibly getting some solicitations from attorneys who comb the arrest records looking for clients. The county puts up the arrest list on their website weekly.
He should avail himself of an attorney (though perhaps not one of the ones that sends him a postcard).
