    Shoplifting in Nevada, First Offense
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Nevada

Over two months ago, I was accused of petty larceny in Nevada. The police weren't called due to my cooperation and I wasn't given a citation or a court date on the spot. I was told I would be receiving a summons in the mail. I received a civil demand notice and paid it quickly after consulting with a lawyer. I have been checking with the court and the city attorney's office and they have no information about me to date.

I've been getting tired of waiting for information on my case, as I would like to get it worked out and move forward, so I went to the local police department and they said that there was a report made for petty larceny under my name. I visited the local municipal court, with the case number the PD gave me, and they didn't have any information on me. They told me to call the city attorney's office who ran my name and nothing came up. I was wondering if its possible that my case wasn't forwarded and that I caught a lucky break or if it's more than likely that I will still get a summons. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

Sometimes it is best to let sleeping dogs lie. I know this is stressful for you (but you should have thought about that before you stole). If and when you are apprised of the charges or are contacted by the police or the prosecutor, decline to talk to them and obtain the counsel of an attorney.

If they told you that you will receive a summons in the mail and the police also confirm a report has been made, then you are going to get charged. It sounds to me like the court is just a bit backed up and it's going to take a couple of months to get the summons. I can't imagine given the facts that you've given us that somehow things are going to just fall through the cracks and you're going to luck out.
