Reporting a Co-Worker for Stealing
My question involves criminal law for the state of: illinois
I am an employee at Kohls and I saw an associate shoplift I called loss prevention but they had left for the day I know they were caught on camera what should I do? Will loss prevention watch the video and see her?
Re: Reporting a Co-Worker for Stealing
If you have already reported the theft to loss prevention, that is all you really need to do for now. I'm sure that loss prevention will review your report and any surveillance video. They may also contact you again for a more formal statement regarding what you saw. If so, just tell them exactly what you saw, with no embellishments or assumptions. You are a witness who reported the crime. You have nothing to fear from the investigative process.
Re: Reporting a Co-Worker for Stealing
What they won't do, whatever else they may or may not do, is report back to you and say, "Gee, you know, you were right! Thanks so much! What we did was......" You will never hear. And it would be unwise to brag or tell other co-workers what you've done. Let this situation work itself out without your further help.
