Minor Found to be in Possession of Marijuana on School Grounds
My question involves juvenile law in the State of Missouri. I was pulled out of class on May 14th by my school resource officer and told that he has "reasonable suspicion" that I was in possession of illegal substances. He than asked to search my back pack, I said no but than he called in my school principal to search it. Under the Missouri's "safes school act" he is allowed to search my bag for pretty much any reason. So he searches my bag and finds a gram of marijuana. My mom is called and I was suspended from school for 70 days because this is my second time being suspended for drugs. So in a couple weeks, I will have to go see a Juvenile officer. So my question is, what is most likely going to happen punishment wise? I have only been in trouble with the law once. A couple months ago I was caught shoplifting with some friends, but when I went to see the Juvenile officer, he just gave me a warning. No court or anything like that, so it is not on my record.

They don't even need reasonable suspicion to question you. Being in school is consensual.
Kid, you're continued disregard of the law is not going to bode well for you. By the way, such things are typically recorded. Your past run ins may even result in them deciding to prosecute you as an adult.

Expect to be expelled, for starters. You may be required to enroll in an alternative education program, take drug awareness classes, and potentially even spend some time in juvie.

Don't be so sure that it's not on your record.
You need to straighten up and fly right, kiddo, or you're going to be looking down the road at a very difficult future. Employers don't like criminals - and that, my friend, is what you are right now.

I cannot even begin to tell you how livid I would be if my kid was suspended for 70 days - for the same thing s/he was already suspended for once before. Be glad you are not mine - you'd be sitting home with a babysitter all summer (and not a pretty one, either). AND you'd be working for me to pay off fines and fees. And not fun work - think cleaning the bathroom w/a toothbrush (toilet included) and cutting the lawn with scissors.
Straighten up, kiddo.
Re: Legal Troubles for Possession of Marijuana on School Grounds
Suspended for 70 (seventy) days?? That's more than a third of a school year! Either that number is wrong, or, you have effectively been expelled. Time to find an alternative programs such as home schooling ... I'm sure mom and dad will be more than happy to to quit their jobs to babysit you during the day. But, if you go to juvenile hall, they won't have to worry about that part, anyway.
Re: Legal Troubles for Possession of Marijuana on School Grounds
I know it's not recorded on my record because I know the Juvenile officer personally and he said he would keep it off my record for my futures sake, I have wanted to go into the military my hole life.

Apparently not as much as you want to do drugs.

No, if you had an eye on being in the military your 'hole life', you would not be doing these stoopid things.

He might be able to overlook one indiscretion but he is risking his job on any more. What guarantee do you have that the same guy who dealt with your thievery will be dealing with your drugs?
Just because it doesn't go to court doesn't mean it there isn't a record of it somewhere.
Get your six on the straight and narrow if you expect to be a soldier/marine/whatever.

Ya being a dick is really gonna help me.

Thievery and drug use are not characteristics I want to see in those who are serving my country.

No, what will help you is getting your act straight! Shoplifting, dope, a lengthy suspension/expulsion ... all of these will derail a military career before it happens. The armed services are cutting back. They are being more selective, not less. People suffering multiple contacts with the police and being bounced out of school are not going to make for good candidates in a career that requires blind obedience to rules and traditions, A history of defiance and deviance is not going to score you points.
So, time to grow up, man up, and get your act together or you will be wearing a different kind of uniform one day (an orange jump suit).
