    Domestic Violence and Visa Application
I spanked my two boys with a belt and did not leave marks, however the neighbors called the police due to noise etc and i was arrested for domestic violence. It is a misdemeanor in the state of washington.. I agreed to a deferred sentance and I have to attend 4 parenting classes, which i will have done soon, and pay 300.00 for a monitoring fee.. they will check to see if i am arrested again over a period of two years, and if not, the case will not be on my record..

I am going to be filing for a fiance visa for a lady in the Philippines in April. I am just learning about the new imbra law etc.. So this domestic violence i have, its not a conviction.. do you think it will come up in my application process.. ???

here is more to the story.. my wife who was also from the Phils, and had been with me 2.5 years, took off after this happened, and wont communicate with me.. I filed for divorce and that will be final in April.. From what i can gather, i think my ex wife will claim domestic violence against her just because she thinks it will help her case to stay.. There was never any abuse or violence towards her. She used this incident for her advangtage and totally burned me... What a joke..

So.. i havent contacted homeland security yet, but I found out i have to write a letter to the fraud dept. So I am just going to write them and tell them she took off, and not give any opinion about what they should do.

I would like to be able to bring over my new fiance without a big hassle..

so what do you think about all this???

You're a U.S. citizen? If so, the issue may come up but I would be surprised if it prevents you from bringing your fiancé into the U.S. after your divorce is over. The bigger concern might be trying to bring a fiancée into the U.S. when the ink on your divorce judgment is barely dry.
