Wrongful Termination in Georgia
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: I was hired 10/01/14 when completing my application I was asked to list my criminal convictions. Well my job was recently put on the news 01/2015 for the hiring of criminals which they then started a inquest on employee with backgrounds. I did not list charges that were dropped because I was not asked about those charges however, I was subsequently fired April 6, 2015 for lying on my application. I don't know if I have any recourse and where do I begin? Oh they are also fighting my unemployment in attempt to protect themselves.
Re: Wrongful Termination in Georgia
This is not a wrongful termination as defined by law.
The state, not your employer, will decide if you qualify for unemployment. Please note that if you do receive benefits, that does NOT mean that your employer violated any laws by terming you; there is no relationship between unemployment benefits and whether a termination is considered wrongful.
