One of my friend (XYZ) agrees to be a joint sponsor for me as he earns enough to sponsor me . He is on green card and his wife (ABC) is US citizen . She is not working this year ,she is a housewife now a days .

The original sponsor and co-sponsor must both file affidavits of support.

By executing Form I-864A is for use when the cosponsor is a member of the sponsor's household. You have not indicated that your friend lives in your home.

Re: Direction to Fill Out Joint Sponsor I-864 and Filing Out I-864a
Thanks to your reply , but above comment is not true . Please read below for that

Q: What is a joint sponsor.
A: A joint sponsor is a person who is not the petitioner for the sponsored immigrant but who meets the citizenship, residence, and age requirements and who meets the 125 percent minimum income requirement for his or her household size.
Joint sponsors are permitted when the petitioner cannot meet the income requirements or has died before all family members have immigrated.
Q: Who can be a joint sponsor?
A: Joint sponsors must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents; age 18 or over; and live in one of the 50 States, Washington, DC, or a US territory or possession.

Link for above source . Thanks . Please advice if any true source from authorized and legal .

    Thanks again !!!!!!

With your questions, you should consult an immigration law specialist - either an attorney or social service agency who assists immigrants.

I hope your friend willing to co-sponsor understands the financial risks he is undertaking.

Re: Direction to Fill Out Joint Sponsor I-864 and Filing Out I-864a
    hello there ,

your wife needs to fill out seprat I-864 and if your father in law stays same address or diffrent address . he need to fill out his seprat I-864 . Please make sure when you fill that form include his seprate income if that sufficent to proverty guide line of 2015 , if not then you might add your mother in law income as joint sponsor , then she needs to fill her I-864A .

Re: Direction to Fill Out Joint Sponsor I-864 and Filing Out I-864a
I am filling out I-864A and i am the intending immigrant as well. I am stuck on part. On the top right hand side of the forum it says "For Government Use Only" and right below that there are two check boxes against :
    1. I am the intending immigrant
    2. I am not the intending immigrant

I am filling out the form on my PC and these check boxes are modifiable. I have checked the box the that says " I am the intending immigrant".
Assuming they were intended to be filled out by the immigrant because they are addressing the immigrant/non-immigrant as "I" so certainly these are not for government use.

Need advise on this please !!

    Dogmatique
Re: Direction to Fill Out Joint Sponsor I-864 and Filing Out I-864a
You're misunderstanding. The completed forms are for government use (ie, the government will use the forms you've filled out to make a decision in your case).

You're the intended immigrant - just keep checking that box.
