How to Keep Your Record Clean After Possesion of Marijuana and Paraphernalia Charge
I'm 20 years old in the state of Michigan
Me & my friend were parked out by an empty street.
All you see is the cops coming officer comes up to us & tell us someone called them because they saw a car sitting out infront of an abandoned trailer he gets our info asks my friend who was driving if there's anything illegal he should know about. My friend answered 'No' they bring out the K9 & take it around the car cop says the dog tested yes for pot. We weren't smoking or anything but I did have less than .5 of weed & a bowl.
Officers then checked us & found the bowl in my friends car & I was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia my friend on the other hand was let free.
This is my first drug offense ever & it was a huge mistake.
My question is what can I do to try to keep my record clean ? I Don't want this to interfere with renewing my work permit I'm very scared.
I was thinking of not pleading guilty.

Just pleading "not guilty" won't suffice. Always plead not guilty unless you have legal counsel as to the implications to do otherwise.
You need a lawyer. You should make sure your attorney is aware of your immigration status.

Your only real hope is to get the dog hit challenged, I would suspect, but it's going to take an attorney.

Michigan courts are all over the place as to diversion. You might qualify for a program called HYTA but you should have legal counsel as to the immigration implications of that if you chose to go that way.
