How can I remove my name from a child's birth certificate?

Greetings all, and MUCH respect for your knowledge in these matters.

I have been a complete moron in my past, I've pulled my head out of my... well, you know.
I have separated from my wife over 8 years ago, my name is on the birth certificate of her child.
(I am NOT the biological father).

I am looking into the divorce now, but I need to get my name OFF the B.C. ASAP.

The state of FL wants me to pay child support, even though she knows the real father and his whereabouts. No good deed etc etc.

HELP! :confused:

She may deny this which means tests! The judge might also want to know why it was ok to support this child during your marriage and call her yours but now toss child out with no support after marriage split?

She claims that she will fully support the removal, we we're young and silly, and it's time to move on.
She was 5 months pregnant when we met, so we KNOW it's not mine, someone mentioned a form to fill out & notorize, for the removal, anyone heard of this?

742.18 Disestablishment of paternity or termination of child support obligation.

Read that information from the Florida statutes and focus on section 742.18 (3).

IMO, you are in for an uphill battle, since you knew the child couldn't possibly be yours, but you signed the birth certificate anyway.

Yea, I know, it was a really stupid time in my life, thankfully I'm past that now.

Another question, it seems strange that I would be asked to pay child support while we we're still married, even with the separation?

What is the legality of that?

This is very common.

A quick answer to your question, she can legally collect child support wether you all are still married or not, the only way should might have trouble doing so, is if you lived with the child and can prove you take care of her/him full support!!!
