    Dropping a Hyphenated Name
My question involves name change laws in the State of: Florida

I was wondering how would i go about changing my daughters hyphenated last name. I am the only person on their birth certificate. When they were born I was with my girlfriend at the time and thought at the it was a great idea that I hyphenated and give them hers and mine. Now I would like to drop it. Do i have to do a name change? I feel it's so expensive just to drop a name. Or was wondering if there is a easier way to go about it?

Ya, that helps, some. Just a bit of advice; when you have a situation that is not the common situation you should probably explain that right off.

So, how did the conception come about? What I'm looking for is whether there is a father somewhere that may have some rights here.

But beyond that, if there is no father that has any rights here a name change through the courts is your path. You are seeking to make a legal name change rather than a correction and that is how it is done.
