Trespassing on Abandoned Property in California
I live in California, and I was only wondering what are the charges for trespassing on abandoned property.
In my neighborhood, there is a building, which is boarded up. All windows, all doors. No way in. But however, if you managed to unscrew the nails, and got your way inside, what would happen?
You see, me and my friends are thinking about making a "Fun House" sort of thing. Where we fix the place up, and build it as our own. A TV, Video games, Maybe a slide going down the stairs. Sounds fun, and I think it's a great idea. Besides the fact that I have no idea on the law for this. Would it be possible for us to do this? Or would we be found for criminal activity? Also, if it was, what would be the charges?

The charge for trespassing, you'll be surprised to learn, is called "trespassing". If you enter with the intent of committing a felony, that can bump up to burglary.
Quote:
Quoting Penal Code, Sec. 602.
Except as provided in subdivisions (u), (v), and (x), and Section 602.8, every person who willfully commits a trespass by any of the following acts is guilty of a misdemeanor:...
(m) Entering and occupying real property or structures of any kind without the consent of the owner, the owner's agent, or the person in lawful possession....
