I'm no lawyer but I do know the personals section also makes people "agree" that they are over 18 before viewing, so I would think a good lawyer can prove that the op is not at fault for this, and had reason enough to believe the girl was an adult, since she had to agree that she was in order to see or respond to his ad. Just my view on it
If you don't know the answer - and it's clear that you don't - DO NOT GUESS.
Spouting off nonsense can actually hurt the OP.
Here's some handy dandy home-work.

When you've done reading it, come back and tell us which parts might be relevant.
But wait - there's more! http://www.doj.state.wi.us/sites/def...rs-sexting.pdf
Finally - read the thread. Again. And again. Use a dictionary and thesaurus if you need help.

Your view and $2 will get you a cup of coffee, and not much more.
I just spent 5 minutes on my response and you beat me to it!
I'll take the coffee though.

The OP is worried about going to jail. If the answer to my first question is no, then the OP is fine.
Box of rocks.
Re: Sexting a Minor Who Responded to a Craigslist Personal Ad
There's more than just the eventual possibility of going to jail. The burden of proof for an ARREST is only "probable cause". Whether or not there's a conviction after that arrest, let's be VERY clear that even JUST an arrest for a charge of this nature can result in major consequences in one's life.

His view and $2 can get a little more then that! I can get a small coffee and a buttered roll for $2.
Re: Sexting a Minor Who Responded to a Craigslist Personal Ad
You can be arrested and have your life ruined. And you may or may not be found guily if the case goes to trial. If you continue not actually knowing someone well enough to know what their age is and not just what they tell you, you will end up in jail one day or worse.
