Can You Restore Parental Rights After Relinquishing Children for Adoption
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Minnesota
My son and ex girlfriend voluntarily signed their parental rights away so their three daughters could be permanently placed with my oldest daughter in Missouri with them having the option to adopt them. My son is getting his life back in order now and am wondering if he has any legal recourse to stop the adoption or request his parental rights be reinstated?
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
How far along is the adoption?
Do you mean his parental rights were actually terminated by the court, or do you mean he gave up custodial rights (there's a difference)?
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
The adoption has to wait 6 or 9 months they are living in Missouri as foster children under Minnesota's jurisdiction. I thought it was a rental rights but am not totally positive on that.

Unfortunately, you did not answer the question asked.
Were his parental rights terminated, or did he give up custody? Its one or the other.
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
Permanent placement really does mean permanent.

I am guessing so, but the OP has been so weird in her wording that its hard to be sure.

I can't bear to read the posting Hx of someone who asks a question like this one because it inevitably means there are 100 threads of asking subliminal questions with a lot of.... minutia
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
Let's simplify this. OP, please answer yes or no.
1. Did he relinquish parental rights?
2. If yes, was this contingent upon the adoption being completed?
3. If no, does your daughter have a court order giving her custody?
You need to clarify something else, too. There is a WORLD of difference between giving up custody (but keeping parental rights intact) and actually having your parental rights terminated by the court.
If you don't know the answers, have your son sign up - and this time, we do need the information.
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
Checking with the lawyer that handled it. Thank you very much.
Re: Can Father Get Parental Rights Back
I voluntarily signed over my parental rights. Also with that was the condition I get visitation. My sister is denying me visitation as of present. Last I heard they were not licensed for foster care in either Minnesota or Missouri but did eventually get some kind of paper from the count stating they had temporary custody. I can not get the county in Minnesota to return my calls to get any more information.
