What is the Chance of Getting an Assault Charge Dropped
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland
So basically I seemed to have been charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree assault based on little to no evidence and false claims made by the accuser. What are the chances the prosecutors drop the charges with only a he said/she said type case? It's between myself and another man. He claims I shoved him, a witness said I did not. He called the police in December to report "verbal abuse" and then tried to turn it into an assault case, no threats were made at all. The police were present for maybe 30 seconds and left because they saw nothing wrong with anything. Now two months later he decides to file charges and a second set of charges 5 days after the alleged second incident (one where witness will confirm it did not happen). He filed these charges one day after I issued a temporary peace order against him as well. The police were never called the second time. There were two witnesses the first time and one the second and all are on my side. I have a strong legal and financial backing and I have character witnesses from very respected positions (State Trooper, police, military) ready to be used. I've never hit anyone or even touched someone in an aggressive manner. He claims I was intoxicated as well, the incident happened on a Tuesday night and there are no toxicology reports so he has nothing there either. The guy has been out to get me, I had to leave a fraternity because of him and he's still aggressively trying to ruin my life sending texts such as "feel free to slit your wrists, the world would be a better place".
So based on the timeline, the lack of evidence, witnesses, and everything else, what are the chances the state of Maryland just drops this case or something similar?
