    Misdemeanor Shoplifting Charges in Arizona
    Backstory:
Back in 2008(I was 18 years old), I was caught shoplifting in the state of AZ. I was never arrested, just given a citation at the place of my crime, and then got to go on my way, being banned from entering the establishment for 5 years.

I went to my court dates (I had a date for an Arraignment Hearing, as well as another for a pre-trial conference) and was made to pay some fines, around $1000 total, but no community service or probation or anything like that.

My case is listed under "Justice Criminal" type, and can be found on 2 government case lookup sites (although you need the actual case number to access one of them).
Both sites list my case as "Adjudicated" with "There are no judgments on file" on it.

There is no information whatesoever about the nature of the case, or even the outcome. Originally I was told I now had a misdemeanor.

Now I'm not naive, and I know the best thing to do is to not rely on what's on their site, and to go into the court to get tangible documents, but I was hoping maybe somebody on here might have a similar experience?

It doesn't even come up on the Minute Entries site, although I have 2 other unrelated cases (one which happened before, and one after), which do.

Might I also add I've obtained my AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card AFTER this all happened, which is compliant with ARS 41-1758, which includes shoplifting as a solid way of getting denied one. I've also obtaned my CNA in AZ which also requires a background test before acceptance.

    Question:

Is there any possibility they may have set aside the case on their own, or more possible I fell through the cracks when I obtained my Fingerprint Clearance card/CNA?

Being given the citation IS the arrest.

Shoplifting in your state starts as a class 1 misdemeanor and goes up to the felony range.

You can get such a charge "set aside" but that won't stop it from showing up on background checks (even commercial ones). A set aside is probably still worth pursuing.
