Can You Revoke a Car Sale
My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: mississippi. I let a family buy my jeep for 400. I was talking with them through their son on facebook. They were broke and in a bind so I was selling it for cheap. I took them to my house, hauled the jeep to their house and even took just 200 as their first payment. Only 200 more! And I Did take the dads drivers license number and wrote it down just incase something happened. Well weeks went by and I haven't heard from them. So I messaged them and their son said it's in their uncles shop and they need one more part for it. Well me being the overly generous man I am, I was stupid and told him don't worry about the rest of the money and I will sign the title over to them. Stupid thing to message, I should've said it over phone. Well months went by and every time I message about the jeep he would read the message but not answer . I saw him and his dad at the store the other day and they didn't say hey when I said what's up and they looked the other way. I felt disrespected since I've done so much for them. And they were letting me know nothing about the jeep, so I messaged them saying I'm getting it back and I will just give them their 200 dollars back. They got mad saying they did reply. But I got messages proving they ignored me. Well now they refuse to tell me where the jeep is and keeps saying they don't have to tell me anything because I already told them don't pay me anything and I will sign the title over. So what do I do? I feel like it doesn't matter what I told them if I change my mind. The title is in my name. Please help

You agreed to a price, you sold your car. You need to convey title to the buyer. Your being angry at them for not being grateful enough is not a basis to get out of the deal you struck with them.

Okay well the guy called me and told me that they are still gonna pay me, that his dad is working. So I said okay just don't rush but keep me updated. Well it pissed me off that they ignore me, it's not them being ungrateful, it's them ignoring me and avoiding me. As If I'm bugging about money. By law who has the jeep? Me, because I have the title. Or them, because I told them don't worry about the rest of the money. Bc I can't prove he said he will pay it, he told me over phone
Re: Can You Revoke a Car Sale
You have told us that you agreed to sell them the Jeep for the $200 you have received. That means that they are entitled to the vehicle they purchased from you, and that you are obligated to convey title to them. If they give you more money despite your having agreed to sell the Jeep for $200, you can consider yourself lucky.

So because I told him over Facebook message dont worry about it, I'm forced to give the title to them? Despite him telling me he will pay me afterwards.

Yes. That is exactly how it works. You agreed to a contract and are now not living up to the agreed contract. In fact, if you do not convey title to the new owner, they could very easily sue you for it and win.

YES.
I think that's been made clear already.

When you do charitable acts, you do not get angry and change the terms because you do not feel they were grateful enough. I bought a girl in band a used high end flute at a pawn shop and made it clear the flute was on loan for as long as she was in band to avoid her mom selling it out from under her. Today, I assisted in the removal of a mini van from someones yard using my knowledge and the truck and labor of others. I then assisted the lady behind them, who was completely in a ditch, get winched out free with my auto card as she had been stuck there for 3 hours. As a kudo to the OSP, an Trooper stopped, asked it was an accident, when advised it was not, he left instead of writing them tickets. You do charitable acts to be charitable. All I asked of the lady in the ditch, when she offered to pay what little she could afford, was to say a prayer for XXXXXX tonight as she is religious.

Nice story Dis. Reminds me of a time when I was 5 or 6. My dad and I were driving around in a snowstorm and came across a guy who had run off the road. We stopped, having a 4x4, and hooked up and pulled him out. He stopped us as we were getting back in our truck and had his wallet out, trying to give us money. My eyes lit up like saucers at the sight of that $20 bill. I was already thinking what I would do with my share of the $10. When you're 5 or 6, $10 seems like winning the lottery. My dad refused to take the money and simply told the man to repay him by stopping next time he sees someone needs help.

I stopped helping people on the road 20 years ago,,, I was heading home from work one day and on a somewhat busy road a guy and his family were broke down in the road causing a back up,, he waved at me to help with both arms up in the air, begging me to push his car to the intersection so he could turn off the main road, so being I had this big work truck I touched his bumper and push him the few feet,, maybe 30 or 40 feet, he was able to turn off safely and I went on my way,, I got a block down the road and was blue lighted by some cop who started telling me I broke some law that was a bunch of points and fines,, I don't recall what the hell the law was but it was a big one,,
anyway, now im stuck having this cop explain how I could have caused some car crash with my actions due to the other driver not having power steering,, it was ridiculous his reasoning,, anyway after he felt better about himself and told me how he could write me the tickets and all that,, he let me go without any, now when I see people broke down or needing road help I just keep going, its not worth taking a chance on getting tickets and getting hassled. they can call AAA
