Custodial Parent Abandons Child to Non Custodial Parent
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Louisiana
i just turned 17 a week ago. 8 months ago my mom who is my custodial parent took me to my dad, dropped me off, and has made no effort to contact me. i am enrolled in public school where my mom lives. i have been absent from school every day this year and my mom gets away with it because her dad is some kind of important person and he has been pulling strings to keep my mom out of jail. my dad is disabled and does not get disablility. he has a warrant for child support that piled up after he became disabled and had to quit working. we have no vehicle and are struggling to survive. we want to press charges on my mom. my question is how do we do that without him getting arrested or me being taken away by the state?

It is not child neglect for your mother to leave you with your father. He may enroll you in school.
He may go to court and petition for custody of you, and may ask for child support.
You haven't indicated that your father is not caring for you, so it's not clear why you believe you would be "taken away by the state".

If your father did not enroll you in school in his district then your father is equally as guilty (and maybe more so) than your mother for educational neglect...do not go there. Get enrolled in school ASAP.
If your father is disabled and does not get disability then there is either a question as to whether your dad is really disabled, or his disability case is still pending.
If your father is foolish enough not to file for custody and child support then that is on your dad.
