My Mom Lied to Get a Protective Order and Get Custody of My 15 Month Old Baby
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Oregon
Basically my mom lied to a judge and told him I was still doing drugs even though it was a past problem and I'm now clean. I've never had a case with cps, or any evidence of abuse or neglect. I asked my mom to babysit for a couple weeks while I went to Los Angeles to get a car and whole I was gone she said a bunch of lies and got a temporary protective order. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do next? I am looking for a lawyer but not aure if in Oregon or California . He lives with me in California but my mom got the order in Oregon. Any feedback?

When you say drugs were a "past" problem, what do you mean? How long in the past?

You say you live in CA ... but, you traveled NORTH to Oregon to drop the baby off with mom so you could travel BACK to CA and south to get a car for two weeks ... Is that what happened? Why did you have to travel to Los Angeles to get a car??? And why would that take two weeks? That journey would raise a few red flags to me - especially if coupled with a past of drug use and/or irresponsibility. Your mom may have successfully argued that you abandoned the child. Did you stay longer than initially planned? How many days were you away from home in L.A. before you returned to Oregon with the car?

If the court issued a temporary order, then that means that there should be a hearing date sometime in the near future. I would strongly encourage you to consult an attorney in the county where the hearing will be held and prepare to attend that hearing so that you can defend yourself from the allegations.
