Getting full custody

I am a single mother of a beautiful three year old in Bronx, NY. I am her sole provider. I would like to obtain full legal and physical custody of my daughter. I have allowed her father visitation once a week. Her father has only given less than two thousand dollars and I'm being nice since she was born. He has not worked for two years. He has no disabilities. After an altercation in my parents house between myself, the father, and my family, I have had to drop off and pick up my daughter at his mothers house. He is an extremly emotional often verbally threatening and has been known to become aggressive many times throwing things, screaming, and cursing. Recently he wrecked his mothers house because she refused to give him my phone number. He was upset after an altercation occured between myself, my boyfriend, and him. My boyfreind and I walked away with my daughter fearing he would attack in front of my daughter. I do not raise my daughter in such a household and refuse to subject her to such things. He continued to trash his mothers house and then commenced to try and kill himself. He fled the house when the police were called. An incident report was written but his mother did not want to press charges. I have not allowed him contact with my daughter since that altercation. I am fearful that he could snap while he is with my daughter. I want to make sure that he can not take my daughter from me or threaten to take me to court. I am done being afraid and of living according to his needs. He is not my priority. My daughter is and this is not the kind of environment I want to expose her too. What should I do in terms of building a healthy case and one that I am sure to win? What are my rights? Know of any good lawyers that won't put a huge whole in my pocket?:D Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Is there an order for child support or has paternity been established? If not, he is not obligated to give you anything.

He can take you to court at any point, there is nothing you can do.

If you take it to court, the judge will more than likely order visitation. You can request supervised visitation, but nothing you listed would be enough for the judge to say that he cannot have visitation with his child.

You chose this man as the father of your child, you have to live with it. The child deserves the right to know his/her father.

You seem upset by my post. I sincerely just wanted some advice as I really do not know what to do. I have always wanted my daughter to know her father. He did not show any aggressive behavior till after I was pregnant. Believe me putting myself or my child in such a situation was never my intent. I just want the best for my daughter. This posting was just a way of obtaining information o how to go about obtaining full custody of my daughter. Thank you for your information.
