Can You Be Charged With a Probation Violation After the Probation Period Ends
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Connecticut

My son completed almost all of his two years of probation but had a couple charges about one month prior to the end of his probationary period (in November, 2014). #1: trace amounts of THC in his urine test and #2: misuse of license plates and another misdemeanor charge. Coincidentally, his P.O. happened to show up at the scene where he was and was made aware of the situation at that time.

My son contacted his P.O. multiple times but was unable to reach him. He continued to leave messages but finally got through one time. At that time, the P.O. asked for my son's cell number and said he'd call him back.

    He never did.

Son went to court for the vehicle charges and got continuances both times but has not yet heard from his P.O. nor found any record through the online records search for a warrant for his arrest for probation violation. Also he still has not heard from his P.O.

His probationary period ended in December of 2014.

Can the P.O. (or someone else) still charge him with probation violation after all this effort and after the probation period has ended?

Yes, because it still happened during his probationary period.

Did he get papers saying his probation was ended? If not, he should make sure there is not an active warrant out for him.

    ?

In a lot of probation issues the probation is not over until the court releases the probationer. Your son needs to check on whether the probation automatically ends or if it requires a court order to release it.
